Media Release – June 5, 2021

On Friday June 4th, 2021 Officers responded to reports of male damaging a tree on City owned property before leaving the area and starting an area of grass on fire on the lawn of the St. Thomas Fire Hall on Wellington Street.  The small fire was immediately extinguished by the St. Thomas Fire Department.  As a result a 47 year old London man was arrested for 2 counts of mischief and a Liquor Licence Act offence.  The male was subsequently brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.

On Friday June 4th, 2021 a male ignited a brush fire near an area where two other males had erected a tent.  An argument ensued over the proximity of the fire to the campsite which escalated to the point of one male threatening the other before charging at him with a handheld saw.  As a result; 29 year old Judah Borland was arrested without incident.  Borland was subsequently charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a controlled substance, failing to comply with his release order and 3 counts of breach of probation.  Borland was ultimately remanded into custody.

On Friday June 4th, 2021 Officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance where a 58 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with two counts of assault.   The charged person was subsequently released from St. Thomas Police custody on a release order with conditions and a future court date.

On Friday June 4th, 2021 a 36 year old female turned herself in for arrest in relation to a theft investigation where a laptop was stolen from a residence.  The female was released from St. Thomas Police custody with a future court date.

In the early hours of June 5th, 2021 a young person threw a canned beverage at a motor vehicle causing the front window to smash.  A fight ensued between the young person and one of the occupants of the motor vehicle.  As a result the young person was charged with mischief and a failure to comply with a release order.  The occupant was charged for assault stemming from the altercation.
