Impaired
On Friday, September 9th, officers on Community Patrol arrested a 33 year-old female for impaired operation of a motor vehicle after failing a standard field sobriety test. She was taken to the police station for further testing conducted by a Drug Recognition Evaluator in which she failed. She has been charged with Operating a conveyance while being impaired by drugs. She was later released on an Appearance Notice. ^14525
On Saturday, September 10th, shortly after 6:00am officers on Community Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after receiving a traffic complaint. Officers had the 44 year-old male driver provide a breath sample into an Approved Screening Device at the roadside which he registered a fail. He was arrested and brought to the police station for further breath samples. The results of these tests confirmed that his blood/ alcohol concentration was over the legal limit and was therefore charged with Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus). It was also discovered that he was a prohibited driver and was charged with Operation while Prohibited. Additionally he had an open bottle of liquor in his vehicle as well as a small quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine that he was charged with. ^14540
On Saturday, September 10th, shortly after midnight officers on Community Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The 25 year-old male driver was arrested and taken to the police station for further breath samples. As a result of these tests it was determined that man had a blood/ alcohol concentration of more than twice the legal limit. He was charged with Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired by Alcohol and Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus). He was later released on an Appearance Notice. ^14588
Theft
Officers are investigating after a pair of white, size 9, Under Armour running shoes were stolen from a store at the Elgin Mall on September 9th. The male suspect is described as being a white male 5’5”-5’6” tall, slim build, short dark hair and scruffy. He was wearing a black hoodie and shorts and was last seen riding away on a black BMX style bicycle. ^14498
Break and Enter
On September 10th, three people were arrested and charged after being located causing damage inside a building under construction on Manor Rd. An 18 year-old male was charged with break and enter as well as failing to comply with a probation order. The other two were youth and were charged with break and enter. All three were released on an Undertaking. ^14579
Mischief
On September 11th, a window to a business in the downtown core was smashed sometime overnight or early morning. Police are investigating in attempts to identify a suspect. ^14596
