On Thursday July 4, 2019 at around 8:00 a.m. police arrested 30 year old Christopher O’Connor on an outstanding warrant stemming from a drug related incident in December 2017. After being taken into custody, O’Connor was found to be in possession of 3.5 grams of Fentanyl. The accused is charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance and he was later released to the custody of the Elgin County O.P.P. who also held arrest warrants for the accused.
At 11:00 a.m. on July 4th the St. Thomas Police arrested 32 year old Dillon Churchill at the Elgin County Courthouse on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was in relation to a fraud incident that had occurred in July 2018. The accused was held in custody for a court appearance.
Police responded to a report of theft at Walmart around noon hour on Thursday July 4th. Loss prevention staff observed a male run from the store exiting through the emergency exit at the garden center. The male was carrying a white and green bag over his shoulder. Store video was reviewed and it was determined that the male took $144.00 worth of merchandise which he made no attempt to pay for before exiting the store. In review of the video, police recognized the 39 year old male suspect from previous dealings. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the male. As a result of this incident a warrant will be sought for the accused who will be charged with one count of Theft Under $5000 and one count of Breach of Recognizance.
A 21 year old male turned himself into police on Thursday July 4, 2019 in relation to a breach of release conditions that had occurred earlier in the week. The male is charged with one count of Breach of Undertaking and was later released with a future court date.
Just before 1:00 p.m. on July 4th the St. Thomas Police were called to a Talbot St. apartment for an unwanted person. In dealing with the original complaint police discovered the complainant 30 year old Julia Brownlee was wanted on an outstanding warrant relating to threats. As a result Brownlee was arrested on the power of the warrant and taken into custody. The accused was later released on a Promise to Appear.
On Thursday July 4, 2019 at around 4:00 p.m. police responded to a report of loud music and a possible disturbance at a downtown apartment. When police arrived they located a 47 year old male at the address who was on conditions not to be there. The male was arrested and charged with one count of Breach of Recognizance and one count of Breach of Probation. The accused was held in custody for a court appearance.
Just after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday July 4th police were dispatched to a west end residence with regards to a domestic disturbance. A 55 year old female had left her residence seeking help from neighbours as a result of the confrontation. Investigation revealed that the female had been pushed, punched and grabbed by her 54 year old husband during the altercation before she left the residence for assistance. The 54 year old male was arrested and charged with one count of Assault. He was later released with conditions and a future court date. The victim’s physical injuries appeared to be minor in nature and did not require medical attention.
The St. Thomas Police were called to a report of a domestic disturbance at a west end residence around 7:00 p.m. on July 4th. Investigation revealed that earlier in the evening the victim an 18 year old female had been involved in a heated argument with her 16 year old ex-boyfriend. This argument turned physical when the ex-boyfriend threw the victim to the bed and held her down not allowing her to get away. The victim was eventually able to get free but again was stopped from leaving the bedroom by the 16 year old male who got the victim in a bear hug from behind. This back and forth struggle continued for about an hour before the victim was finally able to get free and leave the residence to call police. Police located the 16 year old male later in the evening and as a result of this incident at 10:40 p.m. the 16 year old male was arrested and charged with one count of Assault and one count of Forcible Confinement. The accused was later released to a parent with conditions and a future court date. The victim sustained minor physical injuries that did not require medical attention.
On Thursday July 4, 2019 at 11:25 p.m. police were called to a downtown address for an unwanted male. Investigation revealed the male was 26 year old Justin Dobson who was currently wanted by the St. Thomas Police on an outstanding warrant relating to a breach of release conditions. Dobson was placed under arrest on the power of the warrant and he was held in custody for a court appearance.
