Impaired / Assault / Suspicious Vehicle

Impaired
Thanks to an alert citizen, STPS Officers have arrested and charged a forty seven year old St. Thomas man with an impaired driving offence.  The caller saw the man around 10 am yesterday morning driving recklessly down Highbury Avenue and contacted police with a description and licence plate number of the suspect vehicle.  A traffic stop was conducted by Officers and breath samples indicate the driver had almost twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.  As a result the driver is now facing one count of Operate Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Milliliters of Blood.  He was later released on a Promise To Appear in Court.
Assault
A thirty three year old St. Thomas man was arrested and charged with one count of assault in the early morning hours yesterday after paramedics called police to assist at a a north side residence.  An argument between the man and his girlfriend escalated and became physical.  The female was transported to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and treated for minor injuries.  The man was held in custody at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for court.
Suspicious Vehicle
A gas drive off in Woodstock has been linked to a stolen pick up truck out of the Niagara Region.  The truck is described as a 2004 Black Chevrolet Silverado with a gold bow tie on the front grill.  Personalized Licence Plate WIGAL.  If you see this vehicle, please contact police.
