Robbery at Downtown Grocery Store
Around 4 pm on Thursday afternoon, officers were called to a downtown grocery store. A 38 year old St. Thomas woman was confronted inside the store after being suspected of shoplifting. Once she was confronted by the store’s staff she brandished a pocket knife and began threatening the staff members. The woman was able to flee from the store, but was later apprehended at a nearby residence. 38 year old Amy Robinson, a St. Thomas resident, now faces charges of Robbery with a weapon, Assault with a weapon, 4 counts of Breaching her probation order and 2 counts of failing to comply with a recognizance. She was held for an appearance in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court where she was later remanded into custody.
St. Thomas Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrants
A 32 year old St. Thomas man was arrested early Friday morning on 2 outstanding warrants. Both warrants were in regards to him breaching his probation. He was released with a future court date.
South Side Break and Enter Suspect Arrested
A resident in the city’s southeast end discovered he had been the victim of a recent break and enter where over $3000 in property had been taken. Luckily the homeowner had video surveillance on his property and was able to capture images of the suspect. With the help of a keen St. Thomas police officer the identity of the suspect was quickly revealed. On Friday morning police arrested 44 year old St. Thomas resident, Michael Hansen, for Break and Enter, Trespass by night and Failing to Comply with a release order. Hansen was remanded into custody pending a future court date after appearing in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court.
