Fraud
A twenty six year old St. Thomas man has been summoned to court after running away from a cab fare. The man had taken a cab from Simcoe, ON back to St. Thomas on Saturday July 14. When the cab arrived in town, the passenger instructed the driver to pull over at the intersection of Curtis and East Streets. As the passenger exited the vehicle he stole the drivers cash float containing $100 and fled before paying is $182.00 fare. The male was later identified by Police. He is now charged with one count of Transportation Fraud and one count of Theft Under $5000.
Warrant
A twenty nine year old homeless man wanted by St. Thomas Police was arrested in London. The male was arrested by London Police yesterday during an interaction with officers around 10:30 am. The man was taken into custody without incident and held until he could be transferred to St. Thomas for processing. He is charged with one count of Breach of Conditions and was later released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
Theft
A twenty nine year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested for shoplifting at Walmart. Loss prevention report observing a woman walking through the store on Wednesday around 1:30 pm hiding merchandise in her backpack. The woman then selected a few items which she paid for at the cash register ignoring the items in her bag. The woman was arrested as she left the store making no attempt to pay for the concealed goods. She is now charged with one count of Theft Under $5000 and sixty five dollars worth of stolen items were recovered.
Criminal Harassment
A forty one year old St. Thomas woman turned herself in to police yesterday around 4:30 pm at the Colin McGregor Justice Building. The woman was wanted on a warrant after repeatedly harassing the family of her estranged spouse. She is charged with three counts of Criminal Harassment and one count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. She was later released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
Breach
A twenty two year old St. Thomas man was arrested early this morning around 2:30 am after a concerned citizen called in a domestic argument. The caller stated that the two could be heard yelling from the street and were observed leaving in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle a few streets away with the female near by. A K9 search located the male after tracking him for over a kilometer through thick brush. The male surrendered to K9 commands and was taken into custody without incident. He is charged one count of Breach of Conditions not to communicate with the female involved and held in cells at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for Court.
