Forged Cheque
A thirty one year old St. Thomas man spent the weekend in jail after attempting to cash a forged cheque at the Money Mart located at 1010 Talbot Street last Thursday.  The man attended the location around 11 am with a counterfeit cheque  he made payable to himself for almost one thousand dollars.   The clerk recognized the cheque was bogus right away and contacted police.  Officers arrested the male without incident.  He is currently charged with One Count of Utter Forged Document and will appear in court this morning to answer to the charge.
Assault
A fifty three year old man has been charged with one count of assault after an argument with his housemate turned violent.  The accused allegedly grabbed his twenty three year old victim by the throat and pushed him.  The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention.  The accused was arrested without incident and released on conditions with a court date in the near future.
