On the evening of the 9th of November 2018, an alert citizen contacted 911 to report a possible impaired driver in a white Chevrolet pickup on Highway #3 as it entered the City of St. Thomas. The St. Thomas Police attended the area and located the pickup truck which was driven by a 31 year old man staying at a local hotel. Through the investigation it was determined the driver was impaired by alcohol which resulted in his arrest. The driver provided breath samples as required which resulted in readings over 3 times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle. The 31 year old man was charged with impaired driving, drive motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, having open alcohol in a motor vehicle, suspend drive, and two counts of disqualified driving. The man now faces a court date for the charges in December 2018.
