Breach / Impaired / Warrant / Theft / Break In

At shortly before 9:30 in the evening police responded to a complex on Fairview Ave after receiving information from a concerned person who reported a male and a female arguing.  Police located  the individuals involved and as a result a 47 year old man was taken into custody for breaching a court ordered condition.  The male was arrested, charged and released with a future court date.

At 10:45 in the evening police located a vehicle in the south end of the city at a high school parking lot.  Police responded to the area after a concerned citizen reported the driver of the vehicle may be under the influence of drugs and or alcohol.   After speaking with the driver and after conducting a field test the 18 year old male driver was arrested and charged with operating a conveyance ( motor vehicle ) while impaired and possession of cannabis.  He was transported to the police station and released with a future court date.

Just before midnight police located a vehicle parked in a downtown parking lot and after speaking to the driver it was determined the 19 year old male was breaching a court imposed condition so as a result he was arrested and charged with breach and a Liquor Licence Act offence.  He was released with a future court date.

Police arrested  a 17 year old female on an outstanding warrant.

Saturday morning at 8:15 police responded to Rosebery Place to search for a male suspect who just stole a bike from the rear porch of a residence. The bike is a Gary Fisher black mountain bike and valued at approximately $1000.00. The male suspect was wearing a hat and knapsack and was last seen northbound on Southwick Street with the bike.

Sometime overnight a vehicle was entered on Mitchell Street and a wallet was stolen from inside the vehicle. Police want to remind residents to lock their vehicles when they are parked and to secure valuables out of view.

Again sometime overnight a secured shed was entered on Southwick Street and thieves made off with a weedwacker, hedge trimmer and leaf blower.

Lastly, the St. Thomas Police are investigating a break in to the Gospel Hall on Sunset Drive. The break in occurred between Thursday August 6 and Saturday August 8. Thieves entered through a sliding glass window on the north side of the church and once inside they rummaged through a number of rooms before stealing musical equipment pieces and alcohol.
