On May 26, 2018 at approximately 3:00 am St. Thomas Police arrested a 24 year old St. Thomas man for assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance. This came out of a call regarding a disturbance involving a number of people in the area of Hincks Street and Mitchell Street. Investigation revealed the intoxicated man assaulted a female at a house party. The man was told to leave the party which he did but returned a short time later to continue the disturbance. While attempting to get the man to leave again he grabbed a piece of wood and struck a second victim. The man then ran away but was chased by a third victim. As the man was running away, he found a garden rake sitting in the bed of a parked pick up. The man then struck the third victim in the head and ribs with the rake. Police located the man and arrested him for the assaults. During the investigation it was learned the man was on a recognizance with a number of conditions including not to consume alcohol, not to possess weapons and to obey a curfew. The man was held for morning court. The second victim was not seriously injured. The third victim was treated by EMS on scene and released.
