Assault Police/ Impaired Driver

During the evening of Friday March 8, 2019 the St. Thomas Police were called to a residence in the city regarding a domestic dispute.  When officers entered the residence to check on the female’s well-being an officer was struck by the male in the residence with a piece of wood.  The officer was not injured.  A 47 year old St. Thomas male was arrested and charge with assault with a weapon, breach of an undertaking and breach of probation.  The male was held for morning court.
In the early morning hours of Saturday March 9, 2019 an alert employee at a local restaurant contacted the St. Thomas Police regarding a possible impaired driver.  When police arrived on scene a roadside screening device was administered and the driver failed that test.  The driver was transported to the St. Thomas Police station for further testing.  While at the station the driver refused to participate in further testing. As a result, a 24 year old female from St. Thomas was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand contrary to Section 320.15 (1) of the Criminal Code.  She was eventually released with a future court date.
