Arson
A thirty two year old St. Thomas man was arrested yesterday afternoon around 1 pm on Talbot Street and charged with one count of Arson.  The arrest comes after police responded to a small fire set behind a homeless drop in centre on Talbot Street early Monday morning around 6:30 am.  A picnic table behind the facility had been lit.  The St. Thomas Fire Department arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the flames.  Police reviewed security video from nearby buildings and discovered the suspect had been recorded on video setting the fire.  The male was quickly identified and taken into custody without incident.  He was transported to the Colin McGregor Justice Building and later released on a Promise to Appear in court.
Warrant
A forty three year old St. Thomas man was arrested Tuesday morning around 7:30 am on Mondamin Street.  Officers were dealing with the man on an unrelated matter when they discovered he was wanted on a warrant.  The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Justice Building for processing.  He was later released on a Promise to Appear in court.  The warrant was issued after the man failed to appear at the station to have his finger prints taken after being charged with Resist Arrest.
Shoplift
A forty nine year old St. Thomas man was arrested and charged with one count Theft Under $5000 last night around 8:30 pm.  Officers tracked the man back to his residence after receiving a call from Loss Prevention Officers at Walmart.  The man was recorded on security video walking out of the store with over two hundred and fifty dollars worth of stolen merchandise and leaving in the passenger seat of a black Chevrolet pickup truck.  The man was released by Officers on an Appearance Notice for court.
Impaired
A twenty eight year old St. Thomas woman was arrested last night around 9 pm during a traffic stop on South Edgeware Road.  Police had received a complaint from an alert citizen who reported the vehicle being driving erratically into town.  Officers pulled the vehicle over and determined the driver was impaired by alcohol.  The woman was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Justice Building for further testing.  Breath samples taken indicated she had almost twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system.  As a result the woman was charged one count Impaired Operation By Alcohol or Drug and one Count Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus.  She was later released on a Promise to Appear in court.
