Arrest

A nineteen year old St. Thomas man was arrested Tuesday night following a disturbance in traffic at the intersection of Talbot and First Avenue.  As a result he was charged with Criminal Harassment, Mischief Under $5000 and Dangerous Driving.  He was taken into custody without incident and later released on an Undertaking with court date. ^8070

Attempt Theft of Vehicle

Police are investigating after a homeowner on Barwick St discovered three men trying to steal his vehicle around 3:30 am Tuesday morning.  The men were already inside his car when he confronted them.  The men are all described as wearing dark clothing and bandanas over their faces.  The men were last seen leaving the area in a silver Jeep headed south on Flora St.  If you have any information about this incident or saw anything suspicious in the area please contact STPS at 519-631-1224 or submit a tip online at www.stthomascrimestoppers.ca

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

Break and Enter

Thirty nine year old Leila Oosterhoff, forty year old Amanda Percival and Thirty six year old Adam Windis were arrested Tuesday morning.  They are alleged to have broken into a vacant apartment on Talbot Street.  Property managers noticed activity around the unit and contacted police.  Officers on Community Patrol attended the address and arrested the three individuals.  They were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing.  All three were charged with Break and Enter and released on an Undertaking with court date. ^8091

Vehicles Entered

Two  vehicles parked in the laneway of a home on Devonshire Place were entered sometime Monday overnight.  Vehicle documents and loose change were reported stolen.  Please remember to lock your vehicle and take valuables inside. ^8093

Fraud

As the result of an investigation, forty year old Michael Edmonds, twenty six year old Mackenzie Tobias and thirty one year old Cody Ferris have all been identified as suspects in a fraud investigation.  The incident began back in December when cheques were reported stolen from the mailbox of a store on Talbot Street.  Shortly after the theft, Edmonds, Tobias and Ferris had all deposited stolen cheques into their accounts before the cheques could be cancelled.  Ferris was arrested Tuesday after he turned himself in at the Colin McGregor Building.  He was taken into custody without incident and charged with Fraud Under $5000, Possession of Stolen Property and Using a Forged Document. He was later released on an Undertaking with court date.  Edmonds and Tobias remain at large wanted on warrants for the same charges. ^0190

Mischief

Police are investigating after a male was recorded on store security video trying to pry open a glass display case where cell phones and electronics are kept.  The man was unsuccessful and nothing was stolen.  He was seen leaving the store with another man.  ^8112

Arson

Fraud

Police are investigating after a woman reported being scammed out of $1200 for a deposit on an apartment that doesn’t exist.  The woman e-transferred the funds to hold the unit and discovered it was a scam when she showed up to move in.  For more information on scams please visit www.antifraudcentre.ca Protect yourself and your money. ^8118

Arrest

Twenty nine year old Bryor Kiff was arrested Tuesday afternoon.  Officers on Community Patrol recognized him as being wanted on a bench warrant.  The warrant was issued after Kiff failed to attend his scheduled court date to answer to charges of driving while prohibited and breaching his release conditions.  He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing.  Kiff was also wanted following and interaction with the Traffic Unit earlier the same day where he was observed driving a truck with no license plates along Chester Street.  He was charged additionally with Drive While Prohibited x5, Breach of Release Conditions x2,  Drive While Suspended and Fail to Display two License Plates.  He was held for a bail court appearance.  ^8119

Warrant

31 year old Aaron Watt was arrested on a warrant Tuesday afternoon.  Officers on Community Patrol recognized him as being wanted on a bench warrant.  The warrant was issued after he failed to attend court to answer to charges of breaching his release conditions.  He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building.  During processing police seized a backpack containing approximately $650 worth of illicit drugs including Fentanyl, Crystal Methamphetamine and Hydromorphone.  As a result Watt was additionally charged with Drug Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3 and Breach of Release Conditions.  He was held for bail court.  ^8124

Warrant

Thirty seven year old Beverly Kimber of no fixed address is wanted on a warrant for Theft Under $5000.  The warrant was issued after she was identified as the suspect recorded on store security video shoplifting from Walmart.  ^7597
