St. Thomas Police Officers have responded to seventy nine calls for service in the last twenty four hours.
Warrant
A seventy six year old man from Highgate was arrested at the Elgin County Court House yesterday morning around 9 am. The man had attended court on an unrelated matter when security officers discovered he was wanted on a warrant by St. Thomas Police. The man was taken into custody without incident and later appeared in court. The warrant was issued after the man breached his release conditions by disobeying a non communication order.
Arrest
A sixteen year old youth was arrested yesterday after breaching their release conditions. The youth had been released to a London address while awaiting court to answer to several assault related charges with conditions not to associate or communicate with a St. Thomas woman. The woman called police yesterday to report being chased by the youth. Officers located the suspect hiding in the woods on the north end of Flora Street and made an arrest. The youth was taken into custody without incident and held for a court appearance.
Arrest
A fifteen year old youth was arrested yesterday afternoon after a verbal dispute with another fourteen year old became physical. The fourteen year old was struck in the face and threatened. The entire altercation was recorded on a school security video. As a result the fifteen year old was taken into custody without incident and charged once count Assault and one count Utter Threats to Cause Bodily Harm. The youth was later released on a Promise to Appear in Youth Court.
Warrant
A twenty one year old London man wanted on a bench warrant issued by the St. Thomas Courts was arrested in London yesterday afternoon around 12:30 pm. Officers from the London Police Service were dealing with the man on an unrelated matter when they discovered he was wanted. The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Justice Building for processing. The warrant was issued after the man failed to attend his court date back in May.
Warrant
A thirty seven year old St. Thomas man was arrested yesterday afternoon around 4 pm at the west end of Talbot Street. The man was wanted on a warrant after his court approved surety revoked their responsibilities to supervise the accused. The man was taken into custody and transported back to the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre. The man had been released back into the community with surety after being charged with several theft related incidents
Stolen Bikes
Police are investigating after a Grey Trek Mountain bike with black and red trim was stolen sometime yesterday from a house on Lake Margaret Trail. The homeowner discovered that thieves had left a pink Mongoose bike behind. Police are investigating after a grey Evolution mountain bike was stolen sometime Monday overnight from behind a Daniel Street residence. The bike was locked to a wooded deck at the time of the theft. A blue Sport Tek Ridge Runner moutain bike was left behind at the scene.
