Man Not Taking Medication
Officers were called to an assisted living facility yesterday morning around 8:30 am after staff became concerned about a resident who was not taking his medication as prescribed. EMS were notified and the man was transported to hospital for a medical assessment without incident.
Male Disruptive in Store
Officers responded to a Talbot Street store yesterday morning around 9 am after receiving reports of a man inside being disruptive to other customers. The man was reportedly walking in the aisles making inappropriate comments. Police stood by with staff while the man completed his purchase and left the property without further issues.
Accidental 911
Yesterday morning around 10:30 am STPS Dispatch responded to a dropped 911 call which means that when communicators picked up the emergency line there was no voice contact on the other end. This triggers a secondary response which requires communicators to follow a process to reconnect with the phone number the call came from. If that is not successful Communicators must contact the service carrier to use signal tracking to locate the device. This caller was located and it was discovered the call was an accidental pocket dial. Officers are still required to attend the location of the caller to confirm no emergency exists. STPS ask all cell phone users to please take precautions against accidental 911 calls. This can be done by locking your keypad and turning off the 911 auto dial on your device. Do not let young children play with your phone and if you do accidentally dial 911 PLEASE STAY ON THE LINE. There is no fine for accidentally dialing 911. By staying on the line you will expedite the process and assist in freeing up valuable emergency resources.
Man Returned to Hospital
Police were contacted yesterday morning around 8:30 am after a thirty five year old suicidal male walked out of the Emergency Department at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital while waiting to be seen by staff. Officers attended the area and located the male a short distance away. He was apprehended and returned to the Emergency Department where officers stood by with the assistance of the STPS Emergency Response Mental Health Worker until he could be assessed.
Disturbance
Police were called to a Flora Street address yesterday morning around 9 am after an argument over a cell phone escalated into a male being an unwanted party refusing to leave. The man left the area prior to police arrival.
Shoplift
A forty year old St. Thomas man was arrested yesterday afternoon around 3:30 pm after shoplifting from Walmart. Loss Prevention Officers observed the man walking around the store taking jewellery and a mini drone off the shelf then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. Loss Prevention arrested the man and contacted police. Officers attended and charged the male with one count Theft Under $5000 and released him on an Appearance Notice for court.
Motorized Bike Leads to Disqualified Driving Charge
A fifty eight year old St. Thomas man was stopped and charged with several driving offences after Officers spotted him riding a conversion bike with a gas engine. The man is currently prohibited from operating a motor vehicle for driving related criminal code charges. As a result he was charged one count Drive While Disqualified, three counts Drive While Suspended, one count Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance, Operate Motor Vehicle – No Permit. The bike was seized and Impounded. The driver was issued an Appearance Notice for court.
Stolen Bike
Police are investigating after a 20″ Movelo trick bike was stolen from the yard of a Holland Street townhouse sometime overnight Sunday. The bike is orange, red and yellow in colour. Disturbance
Police were called to disturbance on Flora Street yesterday evening around 5:30 pm between two pedestrians and a driver. A thirty three year old male and a twenty nine year old female were walking on the sidewalk when the woman threw a timbit at a passing car. The driver pulled over and confronted the couple which led to the disturbance. Officers attended and all parties were sent on their way. No damage to the vehicle. No known reason why the woman threw the timbit.
Stolen Cannabis Leaves
Police were called yesterday afternoon after several cannabis leaves were located on Park Avenue. The leaves were taken from a home grow in the backyard of a nearby residence. The leaves were returned to the owner.

Unwanted Male
Police were called to a downtown store yesterday afternoon around 4:30 pm after a man laid down in front of the main doors and fell asleep. Police attended and woke the man from his nap. The man was moved along without further issue.
Male in Distress
Police were called to an empty lot in the downtown area yesterday evening around 5:30 pm after a concerned citizen reported seeing a male waving his arms around as if he was in distress. Police attended the area and located a man matching the description. The man was not having any issues and was moved along without issue.
Impaired Male
Police were called to the Canron Parkette yesterday evening around 6 pm after a concerned citizen reported a possible impaired male in the park with his pants down around his ankles. Police attended and spoke to the male who was wearing his pants when police arrived. Officers determined the man was not impaired. He was advised to keep his pants on and was allowed to sit in the park.
Parking Lot Collision
Officers were called to a downtown parking lot last evening around 6 pm after a truck backed into a parked car while trying to leave the lot. There was a discrepancy between vehicle owners agreeing on minor damages sustained in the incident. Police do not have Ontario Highway Traffic Act enforcement authorities on private property. The owners were given advice and referred to civil action.
Stolen Bike

R.I.D.E
Officers from the St. Thomas Police Service remained committed to road safety and conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere spot check last night around 9 pm. Approximately one hundred drivers were stopped. Police are pleased to report that only one Standard Field Sobriety Test was issued and the driver passed. No infractions were issued.
Warrant
Thirty nine year old Kevin Ashford was arrested last night around 9 pm on Talbot Street. Officers on general patrol spotted Ashford and recognized him as being wanted on a warrant for two counts Breach of Release Conditions. Ashford was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Justice building where he was held for court.
Missing Cat
Police were called to a Locust Street residence after a neighbour reported hearing a female in the neighbouring yard yelling for help. Officers attended the area and located a woman who was calling out to her cat that had just escaped out of the house.
Disturbance
Police were called to a Kains Street apartment early this morning around 1 am after neighbours called to complain about noise coming from one of the units. Reports indicated yelling and a crashing noise could be heard. Officers attended and located two intoxicated men inside the apartment. The men were warned about the noise and indicated they were going to go to bed.
