On May 15th 2018, the Ontario Chiefs of Police (OACP) launched the 2018 OACP Drive Safe! R.I.D.E Campaign. The theme for this year’s campaign is Who’s in Control? and will focus on raising public awareness about impaired driving and over-reliance on autonomous safety systems in vehicles.
In response to this campaign the St. Thomas Police Service joined with our policing partners the OPP and Aylmer Police Service to conduct a joint-forces R.I.D.E. program throughout various locations in St. Thomas, Aylmer and Elgin County. There were 900 vehicles stopped and police are pleased to report that there were no infractions.
